Houston Stand Down

What is a "Stand Down"?

Every year, Houston Stand Down brings together community partners, service providers, and community volunteers to honor and support the veterans in our city. At this powerful day of service, we meet our veterans where they are—providing access to basic needs, vital resources, and a renewed sense of hope.

History of Stand Down

Every year, Houston Stand Down brings together community partners, service providers, and community volunteers to honor and support the veterans in our city. "Stand Down" is military term referring to the brief period of time a solider leaves an active combat area in order to rest and regain strength.
